Budding Entrepreneurs treated to Limousine Ride and Lunch

A group of students at GDCI were treated to a limousine ride provided by Advantage Limousine around Goderich and a lunch at Burger 33. The students competed in a contest at GDCI in which Grade 10 GDCI Business students put knowledge gained in lessons during the semester into action when they competed in challenges related to the curriculum and eventually opened their own businesses at GDCI. Students were required to use all of marketing, accounting and entrepreneurship skills learned in class to setup a business which sells a good or service during “GDCI Business Week”. Students were broken up into teams and picked a good or service to sell during the week. The business had to be in operation for at least 3 days that week before school, at lunch, or after school. Each team competed against the other teams in class with a variety of businesses from selling goods such as pizza, creme puffs, candy and popcorn.

The Business week experience as well as a final survivor day challenge crowned a champion team of Kaleigh Allinson, Trent Buchanan, Kayla Davies, Derek Fisher, Miranda Millian and Jon Pentland as GDCI Business Apprentice champions.

All proceeds from the business operations were donated to Perth Huron United Way,
